Description

Nocpix MICRO 2 ULTRA 1280 Thermal Monocular

High-Resolution Thermal. Four Ways to Use It.

The Nocpix MICRO 2 ULTRA takes the proven versatility of the iRay RICO MICRO platform and combines it with an impressive 1280×960 thermal sensor. Whether you’re scanning terrain, running a helmet-mounted thermal, adding thermal capability to a daytime rifle optic, or using it as a dedicated thermal weapon sight, the MICRO 2 ULTRA is designed to handle all four applications.

With four times the sensor pixels of the RH25 V2, an ultra-wide field of view, and a high-resolution AMOLED display, the ULTRA delivers a substantial improvement in thermal imaging performance without requiring a large, dedicated optic for every application.

1280×960 Thermal Resolution: See More Detail

At the heart of the MICRO 2 ULTRA is a 1280×960 thermal sensor with a 12-micron pixel pitch and thermal sensitivity below 15mK.

Compared to the RH25 V2’s 640×480 sensor, the ULTRA captures four times as many thermal pixels. This additional resolution provides a more detailed thermal image, helping users distinguish heat signatures, identify objects, and maintain image clarity when using digital magnification.

The 2560×2560 circular AMOLED display complements the upgraded sensor with a crisp, detailed viewing experience. Combined with a 60Hz refresh rate and Nocpix FastEngine processing, the result is smooth, responsive thermal imaging during scanning and movement.

Ultra-Wide Field of View for Helmet-Mounted Thermal

One of the biggest improvements over the RH25 V2 is the MICRO 2 ULTRA’s exceptionally wide 34.2° × 25.9° field of view.

For comparison, the RH25 V2 offers a 17.5° × 13.1° field of view. The ULTRA provides nearly twice the horizontal viewing angle, allowing users to observe considerably more of their surroundings without constantly moving their head.

This makes a meaningful difference when using thermal on a helmet, particularly during navigation, wide-area observation, and dual-band night vision applications.

The wider viewing area also makes the ULTRA especially appealing to users who want to pair thermal imaging with a PVS-14 or build a dedicated dual-thermal binocular system.

Four Operating Modes in One Thermal Optic

Helmet-Mounted Thermal Monocular

The compact design and wide field of view make the MICRO 2 ULTRA an excellent choice for helmet-mounted thermal observation. It gives users hands-free thermal capability for nighttime navigation, surveillance, search operations, and field observation.

Handheld Thermal Scanner

Use the MICRO 2 ULTRA as a handheld thermal monocular to quickly scan fields, wooded areas, or property. The 1280 sensor provides excellent detail for wildlife observation, hunting, predator control, and general thermal detection.

Thermal Clip-On

Mount the MICRO 2 ULTRA in front of a compatible daytime optic to add thermal capability while maintaining the familiar day-optic setup.

Clip-on mode supports daytime magnification up to 10×, an improvement over the RH25 V2’s 6× capability. Three independent zeroing profiles allow users to save settings for different compatible configurations.

Standalone Thermal Weapon Sight

The ULTRA can also operate as a dedicated thermal weapon sight with customizable reticles, adjustable brightness, and Picture-in-Picture viewing. Picture-in-Picture allows users to maintain the full field of view while observing a magnified portion of the image.

Mounting hardware and adapters vary by application. Confirm compatibility before configuring the optic.

Designed for Thermal and Night Vision Integration

The MICRO 2 ULTRA offers features specifically developed for helmet-mounted thermal and night vision systems.

Its dedicated NV Highlight and NV Outline modes simplify the thermal image to emphasize heat signatures while reducing unnecessary background detail.

When paired with night vision, these modes can make it easier to distinguish thermal targets while allowing the night vision device to provide the surrounding environmental image.

For users interested in dual-band night vision and thermal systems, this is one of the most compelling features of the new MICRO 2 platform.

Dual-Link Thermal Binocular Capability

Two MICRO 2 ULTRA units can be paired using Nocpix Dual-Link technology to create a synchronized thermal binocular configuration.

With one unit serving as the master, users can control image settings, color palettes, menus, and zoom across both devices.

This provides a streamlined way to operate a dual-thermal system without independently adjusting each optic.

Improved Clip-On Performance

Nocpix has also made several improvements for customers using the ULTRA as a thermal clip-on.

The upgraded AMOLED display supports compatible day optics with magnification up to 10×. Menu information and on-screen indicators are positioned toward the center of the display, making them easier to see through magnified daytime optics.

Three separate zeroing profiles help users manage multiple compatible setups, while the improved interface makes adjustments more straightforward.

Built for Field Use

The MICRO 2 ULTRA combines its advanced imaging capabilities with practical features for extended field use.

  • Up to 8× digital zoom for closer thermal observation
  • FastEngine processing for low-latency viewing
  • 0.1-second shutter calibration to minimize image interruptions
  • Wireless remote for convenient menu, recording, and zoom controls
  • 64GB onboard storage for recording photos and video
  • Flip-to-standby and True Sleep power management
  • Up to 6 hours of runtime with Power-Saving Mode enabled
  • Rechargeable 18650 battery and USB-C external power support

Build Your Thermal Setup with MOD Armory

Whether you’re upgrading from an RH25, adding thermal capability to a helmet, or planning a dual-band night vision system, choosing the right mounting hardware is just as important as choosing the thermal optic.

MOD Armory specializes in night vision and thermal mounting solutions. Our team can help you evaluate helmet mounts, bridge configurations, and thermal adapters to determine the right setup for your equipment.

MICRO 2 H25 or MICRO 2 ULTRA?

The MICRO 2 H25 and MICRO 2 ULTRA share many of the same advanced features, but they are built around different thermal sensors.

The H25 offers 640×512 resolution, a 17.5° field of view, lower weight, and longer battery life at a lower price.

The ULTRA increases sensor resolution to 1280×960 and expands the field of view to 34.2°, providing more image detail and a substantially wider thermal picture.

Have questions about mounting the MICRO 2 ULTRA or pairing it with night vision? Contact MOD Armory at 719.325.8070 or Sales@MODarmory.com. We’ll help you work through the compatibility requirements.
